Falmer, East Sussex, England is home to the University of Sussex, a public research university. The area mainly lies within Brighton and Hove city limits but extends into the Lewes District on its eastern edge. The large campus is surrounded by the South Downs National Park and is around 5.5 kilometers (3.4 mi) from central Brighton.
In August 1961, the university was granted its Royal Charter, the first of the plate-glass generation of universities. It was also a founding member of the 1994 Group of research-intensive universities.
A third of its students are enrolled in postgraduate programs, and a third of its staff are from outside the United Kingdom. Sussex is home to nearly 20,000 students, one-third of whom are foreign students, and more than 1,000 academics, representing over 140 different nationalities.

Eligibility criteria for the Draper Scholarships
- Applicants must be admitted into one of the eligible master programs.
- Applicants must at least have an upper second-class (2:1) or lower second-class (2:2) undergraduate honors degree (or equivalent) depending on the course they are applying for.
- Applicants must submit scores of the following English language proficiency tests:

- CAE – 176
- CPE – 176
